October 09. 2004 00:14 Shopping!!But first a report from school. I went to the English class that was offered at my free period Friday afternoon, but the teacher didn't let me join the class because I talked English too well... Hmm. Then I went to see the other class, which is slightly problematic because it clashes with my Issues in Manga lecture, but the teacher there said we could try how it goes. There's only one student in the class (but another one is thinking about joining) and her English is very low level as well... Even though it seemed to be the most advanced class available. Hmm. Anyway, we talk and stuff and I'm there more to "teach" the other girl than to learn so much myself. But I don't think the Enlish classes at home would've been any more interesting, so I'm counting on getting the credit done here. So, school ended early today so I decided to go shopping! I thought I'd get my phone today and visit the Neutron gallery, and Mr. Donut :P If the au phones would not work in Finland I'd get a Vodafone prepaid, so I'd get it over with. The au didn't work, as expected, but then there came a sudden problem with the Vodafone prepaid. When I asked for one, they showed me a couple of horrible looking brightly coloured phones and said that was all. I knew that wasn't true, because Heidi has a Vodafone prepaid that looks perfectly fine, but they insisted there weren't any more, so I said I'd check the details and come again later on. I just went through the Vodafone catalogue and indeed, there is the model Heidi has, though it's the only prepaid that looks ok. au also has a prepaid that looks good. I'm gonna go to Qanat tomorrow and ask there, because they have a mobile phone shop that sells all the labels. After fighting with the phone thing I went to the indie gallery Neutron to enjoy a tasty plate of Chinese noodles and to buy a couple of prints by Juneida. I might've told already but Juneida's graduated from the Cartoon department at Kyoto Seika. I really loved his drawings. I've become strangely fond of this little gallery, though I'm not at all a gallery person in Finland. Maybe it's because the main thing is the little shop that sells the works of the displaying students. There's always new cool stuff there ^_^ Then I went to have a few tasty donuts at Mr. Donut, a thing I've been dreaming of doing again ever since I tasted the Angel Creams. There's like 20 different kind of donuts to choose from and they all look tasty... This time I tried a Fancy and a Choco Custard Cream. Most of the donuts have quite funny names on top of looking tasty ^_^ I also visited a couple of 100 yen shops, one of them actually selling things for only 101 yen. The others add a tax to the price, so you're actually paying 105 yen. Yeah, the difference is small, but when you buy lots of stuff it's suddenly more than you planned. Anyway, I found a foldable box from one of them, so now my room is a little more organized again. I got a sewing pack as well so I can finally repair my socks, another bowl for food because one isn't enough, and then set of completely useless glass marbles and a cup for them just because they looked nice. I'm kinda starting to feel that living in a non-furnished mess for several months isn't a good thing, it's messing my aesthetic sense and making me less homey. After that I wandered around a bit, went to the Maruzen to check the calendars they had (if I can't find a cuter one I'll get that Twin Stars one they've got) and bought a pair of earrings from this amazing shop that had unbelievable earrings hanging everywhere. I mean, 5 cm plastic hummingbirds and all. My earrings just had little butterflies and beads hanging from them. They fooled me, though, said all the earrings were only 900 yen, but it was actually only for one earring. So a couple cost twice that, plus tax of course. They have a habit of leaving the tax out of the price tags here when it's convenient for the shop. Most have the price both without and with tax and some have just the one with tax. But there are some shops, mainly these "only this-and-this" shops that don't add the tax. Oh, then I got underwear. There were some panties in sale in Tutu Anna (that's a cool name, by the way ^_^) so I got a pair. Didn't get anything more complicated yet, I think I need to try how they fit first and I didn't feel like spending so much time at it today. But I certainly want to get a lot of underwear from here, they're all so cute I can't stand it, with all the frills and lace and little ribbons ^_^ Finally, I went to Book-Off again. I haven't been there for a while, what with the no money situation and all, but now I felt like looking for something again. I found a couple of art books that cost almost nothing, so I took them even though I have little idea what they're about. There was no manga, but I went through the CD shelves and found the soundtracks of the two Card Captor Sakura movies and took them. They were both 1000 yen so I was wondering if I wanted them both, but then I decided what the heck, this is my shopping day. I got a collection of X Japan singles for Ravenmoon, but then there was nothing else of interest. I tried to find CDs by Tommy February, Every Little Thing, BoA, Sakamoto Maaya, Gackt, Chemistry, Tokio... But either there were none or they were too expensive to buy just out of curiosity. Well, I'll have to look for them later again. At least my Sakura CDs are great ^_^ Tomorrow I have to get to the Qanat in the morning so I can get that phone. I also have to remember to pay for my bus trip to Tokyo. I was supposed to pay it today, but I was fool enough to forget the note with the account information between the Japanese book I left at school this morning. Great, I hope they don't cancel my reservation because I'm a little slow with the payment... Sleepy... |
