Just normal things...

Wow, I got up early today. In spite of myself, though, I just put the alarm clock on too early. I was wondering why the alarm on my mobile didn't go off before the clock, but that was because the alarm on the clock was an hour too early. Waking up that early didn't keep me from almost being tardy, though, as I spent the morning playing with my computer and searching for something like the notes Macs sometimes have on their desktops. I need something to remind me of certain things every time I go to the computer, so a note on the desktop would be perfect. For once I found what I was looking for in no time: Post-it Software Notes. You can download a free edition from their website. They're not as "graphically pleasant" as the ones on Mac, but they're pretty nice.

We went to another wagashi excursion today with our Japanese sweets research group. We left at 12.30, which is 30 minutes earlier than usually, so Dion missed us. This time we went to get a hands-on experience, that is make our own wagashi. It was pretty expensive, 1500 yen, but it was fun and this type of Japanese sweets wasn't that bad. We got to take our models and the ones we made ourselves home, and we also got to taste a seasonal wagashi with some green tea at the workshop. I bought another do-it-yourself set from the shop, mainly because I wanted the instructions, not because I really liked the candy. I imagine one could make it from marzipan as well, so I think I'll try that in Finland.

The school ended early again, the workshop only took 2 hours. I returned to school to get my bike and went to buy some Copic Markers and a sketchpad from the art shop as I was there. I bought a couple of Comic Markers and a Comic Marker blender and Sketch blender. I noticed the Comic markers have two kind of tips marked on them, but when I studied them at home I couldn't find any difference between the tips. It must be the same tips with only a different picture describing them. Both Comic and Sketch have a "super brush" at one end and Comic have "medium round" and Sketch a (medium?) broad one at the other. After playing with them for a while I came to the conclusion that at least for the blender a broad end is a must. The super brush kept messing things up if I wasn't careful. And since you can get a satisfying narrow line out of the broad tip as well, I think I won't buy any more Comic Markers if I don't have to. Tomorrow I'll take the list of good colours with me and buy some more. At least enough to try colouring a few pics.

Today I've been doing homework like a good girl. I did the self introduction for English class and some of my Japanese homework. Writing the past diary entries to computer form took so long yesterday that I didn't have time to do it then... Tomorrow I'll take the listening comprehension cassette to the library and do that, then I've done enough for this week. Then I can concentrate on all the other things I listed yesterday :P
